Sound to Moving Picture

As someone with a deep appreciation for aesthetics — the rhythm of lines, the balance of forms — I am profoundly moved by the visual dimension of our world.

At the same time, I believe in the unbroken unity of sound and picture and their intertwined coexistence. In theory, one can exist without the other, yet together they complete and amplify each other, often in subtle but powerful ways. When masterfully combined, they transform into a true art of storytelling — one that speaks not only to the eyes and ears, but to the soul of the viewer.

Setting High Standards

Since we can never truly reach a perfect state of sensation, it becomes a question of resources whether we embark on the journey to chase the final one percent. Yet, it is entirely rational to pursue this phantom goal — to seek a perfect sound which is not only captivating but also rewarding. Every great story deserves to be supported by a masterfully crafted soundtrack.

Choosing the Right Approach

I am not a big fan of static templates — they tend to reproduce the so called “signature sound” over and over again. Starting from scratch each time may create more uncertainty, but it also opens the door to unexpected discoveries. Of course, too much freedom can easily erode productivity. That balance is fragile — but worth striving for in my humble opinion.

Striving for Excellence

Mastery of the craft is essential to complement the work of collaborators at the highest level. Yet without authenticity, there can be no new or unique resolution to the creative challenge. These two qualities are what draw me to the cinema and make me truly enjoy a story. For me, every film is a statement — a declaration of the relationship between the viewer and the creators.
